We are happy to announce our 2025 Juror Mary Kocol

Mary Kocol is an artist photographer based in Somerville, Massachusetts. Her first camera was a Kodak “Keystone”, purchased with Green Stamps when she was seven years old. Later in grad school she discovered the Diana camera, which she still uses today. 

Born in Hartford Connecticut, Mary was educated at the University of Connecticut, and the Rhode Island School of Design where she earned a Master of Fine Art degree in Photography.

Her earlier urban twilight photographs are among the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, J. Paul Getty Museum, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and others. She's a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship and several Massachusetts Local Cultural Council grants, including a 2024 LLC Visual Art Fellowship Grant from the Somerville Arts Council.

She works as a fine arts photographer at Harvard University’s Art Museum, photographing the art collection.
